This weekend Todd and I went to Memphis. My grandmother is in the hospital so we went to see her. She is doing better, but still not sure what is wrong. I think she will be able to go back to the nursing home tomorrow. However, we had a great visit with her. She has alzheimer's and has slowly been going down hill. The last time I saw her, she just sat there and stared into space. She could not communicate with you or anything. The reason she went to the hospital was because she was in a diabetic coma, which is odd because she is 84 years old, never been over weight, never had diabetes, and been healthy as a horse. Anyway, they are not sure why her blood sugar has been so high, but it has and we think that has caused her to be more out of it than she should be. I was very excited to see her laugh and talk. She is still not like she used to be, but she never will be because of the alzheimer's. However, it was encouraging that she knew her name, made her snazzy remarks, and when you looked in her eyes you could see life. Not a women who looked lost and confused 24/7. It was a good visit.
After our visit with my grandma we went over to Shelby Farms and ran our long run. It was probably the best run I have had since I started this 5 weeks ago. We ran on the Tour de Wolf trail. It was a really fun run. Some of it was in the woods and some was in the open, but it was so peaceful. On one part they have a place were dogs can be taken off their leash, however it was nice not to have to scream or fear for my life that they were going to attack me. They just did their own thing and did not even bother us. When we run here in Portagville the dogs run and chase after us and we end of screaming so they will leave us alone.
I really do like where we live and know that this is where God wants us, however; I do miss hills and fun recreation areas. It reminded me realize to appreciate what we have while we have. I lived in Memphis for 20 plus years and only went to Shelby Farms several times and now I wished had a place like that to go to.
